PROMOTIONAL POSTERS
SAL/MAN
The central motif is a decapitated fish head, its pooling blood arranged to spell the artist's name, Dalton Carlson. Handwritten type and screen printing effects amplify the tactile and visceral nature of his exhibition.
Excerpt from the exhibition statement:
“Sal/Man continues Carlson’s exploration of domestication, drawing parallels between the farming of Atlantic salmon and the modern American worker under corporate systems.”
FlowILM 2024
Built around a bowl motif, first upright, then poured over, this poster visualizes movement and flow. The repeated central pattern suggests a plant form, reinforcing themes of organics It’s designed to interact with projected water droplets, using motion and light to reflect the immersive nature of the event.
Excerpt from the exhibition statement:
“FlowILM is a free community art event focused through an art & technology lens on the relationships between human and non-human organisms and their ecosystems.”
To Watch the Moon Move
A poster exploring the concept of “assaulting the surface,” using the physical qualities of print to distort and manipulate the composition. The design emphasizes the tactile nature of the medium and draws strong influence from brutalist design. This technique pairs with the artist’s photography and reflects the exhibition’s mantra of “[breaking] away from rules of set themes.”
